Product Manager (December 2015-February 2016)
The Product Manager for Enterprise Information Systems at is responsible for formulating the vision for and driving the development of one or more internal business information systems -- in this case Firebrand Publishing Technology's Title Management, used by multiple Duke University Press publishing and business departments. 

Primary duties included 
· Project managing the creation, extension, and maintenance of enterprise information systems; 
· Partnering with stakeholders to evaluate and re-engineer processes that are supported by the systems; 
· Creating system requirements; and 
· Delivering product value to internal customers and stakeholders over time.   

Information Technology (IT) Manager (July 2000-December 2015)
· Managed the purchase of computer equipment and services with an annual budget more than $375K
· Directed and managed five IT department staff that serves more than 100 employees in two locations
· Evaluated hardware and software resources; identified deficiencies; oversaw research and selection of hardware and software options; continued development of server upgrades, intranet and file sharing services
· Established policies for use and maintenance of hardware and software systems; develop security protocols and standard operating procedures for information backup and maintenance
· Oversaw training and orientation of Press staff in new technologies; approved training and procedural manuals and protocols; design and implement systems to evaluate computer competence of staff
· Responsible for project management of several Press-wide initiatives, including:
-- Title Management implementation and the establishment of governance board: project lead working with vendor(s), and Press stakeholders across all departments and divisions to install, configure and build communication chains and integration plans for this Press-wide publication workflow management systems.
-- Global Business Systems Committee: chaired this body, designated to research, procure and implement a $600K upgrade of the Press’s primary electronic accounting, order and fulfillment database.
-- Bibliographic Database Committee: assigned to assess departmental workflows to prepare for the replacement of the current editorial/marketing/production database system

Information Systems Specialist (July 1996-July 2000)
Computer Support/Training/Administrative Duties
· Primary Macintosh and PC desktop troubleshooter for 100+ workstations, installing hardware and software, providing desktop support, and software documentation and training
· Created help pages with resources and links to computing tips for end users
· In charge of budgetary estimates for and implementation of Press capital computer purchases
· Developed original website for International Mathematics Research Notices, Duke's first print/electronic journal incorporating Adobe Acrobat® and TeX
· Served on 1998 Electronic Committee of the Association of American University Presses; chaired in 2000-01.

FileMaker Pro database development
· Created the Duke Press Unified Database: Journals and Books Editorial, Marketing, Production, and Publicity FileMaker databases built into an enterprise system used to track a title from proposal or article to final publication; programmed service calls and the computer and software inventory database
· Responsible for coordination, reprogramming, installation and training on the Duke database for the University of Georgia Press, which purchased the system.

Production Coordinator (September 1993 - July 1996)
· Tracked editorial and graphic production of five journals from manuscript to printed product
· Composed electronic pre-press documents; communicated with editors, authors and suppliers; maintained production financial spreadsheets

Africa News Service, Durham, NC, September 1990-August 1993. 
Production Editor
· Supervised and executed graphic production of Africa News, a biweekly newspaper; assisted in the design of promotional, editorial and fundraising materials
